Harvesting together

Our meetings are usually just… meetings, business: discussions, decisions, and a little fun though that mostly happens during the potlucks after our meetings. But we’ve done a number of things together outside of meetings this year, and in September they came to fruition.

Harvest time. Together we had planted potatoes, onions, squash, beans, and heirloom popcorn (something fun to eat) on a large garden plot, and now it was time to dig and pick and shell. The potato harvest was not big. Beans did well, but the onions were overrun by the squash, and some birds beat us to the popcorn. More space and more diligence next year. The point though was to plant and harvest together, enjoy each others’ company, share some fresh squeezed grape juice, and put some food in our root cellars. Success!
